Forest Heights Residential Project
Toronto
2024
A residential project set within one of Toronto’s most prestigious neighbourhoods, this home is conceived as a study in quiet refinement—where materiality, proportion, and continuity shape a deeply cohesive living environment.
Dark-stained wood, honed marble, and brushed metals establish a grounded, architectural language that moves seamlessly throughout the interiors. These elements are not applied decoratively, but rather composed with intention—anchoring each space in a sense of permanence while allowing light to articulate their depth and texture. The kitchen, defined by its sculptural stone surfaces and clean-lined cabinetry, balances weight and clarity, while integrated lighting softens the composition, creating moments of warmth within its restraint.
A defining gesture of the home lies in its commitment to symmetry and alignment. Framed thresholds with rich wood trims mark transitions between spaces, creating a rhythmic continuity that guides movement through the house. This architectural repetition establishes a subtle dialogue between rooms—each distinct, yet inherently connected. Large, consistent window placements further reinforce this order, inviting natural light to interact with interior finishes while maintaining a balanced visual cadence across elevations.
Lighting has been considered as both function and ornament. Pendant fixtures, sconces, and ceiling-mounted elements are carefully aligned across sightlines, mirroring one another from room to room to enhance the home’s underlying symmetry. This deliberate placement creates a sense of harmony, where illumination becomes part of the architectural language rather than an afterthought.
The furnishings remain intentionally restrained, anchored in a monochromatic palette of taupe, beige, black, and deep neutrals. This tonal discipline allows the richness of the materials to take precedence, while subtle inflections of color—introduced through art, textiles, and curated objects—animate the spaces without disrupting their composure.
The result is a home that feels both modern and enduring: a refined family residence where sophistication is expressed not through excess, but through precision, balance, and the quiet interplay of material and light.
